Description
My first detailed oil pastel painting depicts Rex. I am very happy that it is finished; I worked on it for several months. As a self-taught beginner artist, I'm afraid of making mistakes, so I spend days thinking about every detail. I planned it in my head. The painting is based on my own photo. Oil pastels are matte and velvety, and they give depth to the subject depicted; they bring it to life. It is particularly difficult to create fine details with it. Perhaps that is why I was attracted to the possibility of a realistic depiction.
While I was rehabilitating dogs, I came across many German shepherds. With tenderness, love, and consistent training, they can be your best friend. We only got to spend three years together with Rex. I will love him forever. I painted him so that many people can see his goodness and dignity and think of him with love. This painting would make a perfect gift for animal lovers and fans of the breed.
